The Greek team Panathinaikos FC, will play at Gestion Copa Amsterdam this year. The club from Athens is one of the most successful Greek football clubs in the history. They became national champion 20 times and conquered the national cup 16 times. The climax was the final match of the Europacup 1 that they played against Ajax in 1971.
Together with AZ Alkmaar, AFC Ajax, and Beşiktaş, Panathinaikos forms the groups of participants from Europe. Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Ajax Cape Town and China National Team can be seen as the intercontinental participants. Panathinaikos participated in the first edition of Gestion Copa Amsterdam, in 2005. In the final match they beat Ajax and won the tournament.
